How to get to Asinara from Stintino and Porto Torres.

Asinara is reached by sea only, from two boarding points: Porto Torres port, where the scheduled ferry leaves, and Stintino harbour, where private boat operators leave. The ferry, the ship Sara D, sails from the Molo Segni quay: every day from 1 May to 30 September, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only from 1 October to 30 April. The island is a National Park, and no private motor vehicles or pets may land: your car stays ashore whatever you do. So the trip comes in two parts, the road to the quay and then the boat. RSA Travel&Transfer, an NCC based in Sassari, covers the first part: from Alghero Airport to Stintino harbour 100 EUR by Standard Sedan, to Porto Torres port 65; from Sassari 100 and 50. The transfer ends at the quay: you buy the tickets for the island yourself, from the ferry company or the boat operators. Below: boarding points, days, fares and how to reach the two quays, with data checked in October 2026.

From Porto Torres: the scheduled ferry

The scheduled link leaves Porto Torres from the Molo Segni quay, in the commercial port in town and not in the industrial one: it is the ship Sara D, with timetables and fares published on ensamar.it. In low season, from 1 October to 30 April, it sails on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only: from Porto Torres at 08:30 and 15:30, from the island at 10:00 and 17:00. From 1 May to 21 July and in September it leaves every day at 08:30 and 16:30, coming back at 10:00 and 18:00. From 22 July to 31 August there are three departures a day: 08:15, 11:30 and 16:30, coming back at 09:45, 13:00 and 18:00. The timetable page shows no year: check the company website again before you plan the day.

From Stintino: the boat operators

From Stintino harbour the crossing is run by private operators, with boats that usually land at Fornelli. It is mostly a summer service: there is no single timetable, and days, departures, prices and seats depend on each operator. That is why you will find no figures here: choose the operator, book directly, and ask what time to turn up and at which point of the harbour. Put your boarding time in the form: the pickup is worked out from there, and the driver drops you at Stintino harbour.

Stintino

On the island: no private cars, no pets

Asinara is a National Park and the rules are clear: motor vehicles may not land without express authorisation from the Park authority, and dogs, cats and other pets may not land. On the scheduled ferry you can, however, take a bicycle, for a supplement of a few euros, and electric vehicles. So neither a rental car nor an NCC goes beyond the quay with you: on the island you get around with the transport and visits available there. The Park and the operators can tell you how to arrange them: ask before you travel, above all off season.

From Alghero Airport to the two quays

To Stintino: about 49 km and about 48 minuti; by private transfer 100 EUR by Standard Sedan and 160 by Standard Van for up to 8 people. In 2026 the Sardabus from the airport to Stintino runs only from 1 June to 30 September, 5 times a day, at 3.70 EUR. To Porto Torres: about 31 km and about 32 minuti; by private transfer 65 EUR by Standard Sedan and 90 by Standard Van. ARST bus 714 leaves the airport twice a day, at 07:43 and 18:12, and takes 35 minutes: the morning one reaches the port at 08:18, too close to the 08:30 ferry to rely on. If you land in the evening, the simplest plan is to sleep in Stintino, Porto Torres or Sassari and sail the next day.

From Sassari to Porto Torres and to Stintino

Between Sassari and Porto Torres the bus is a good choice: from the bus station in Via Padre Zirano ARST lines 719 and 727 make 28 departures on weekdays, from 05:00 to 21:15, and 11 on Sundays, and reach the port in about 30 minutes. There are also a few trains a day to Porto Torres Marittima: check the timetable. To Stintino only the 727 remains: on weekdays from Sassari at 05:00, 05:50, 08:30, 14:35 and 18:45, on Sundays at 05:50 and 14:10, a 74-minute trip. By private transfer, Sassari to Porto Torres port is about 23 km and 50 EUR by Standard Sedan; to Stintino harbour about 46 km and 100 EUR. Pickup is at your address; in the historic centre, which is a ZTL, at the nearest point a car can reach.

Sassari

The transfer ends at the quay, and starts again from it

The transfer price covers the road, never the sea: no figure here includes the crossing, and we do not sell tickets for Asinara. When you come back from the island the driver waits at the quay, at the ferry or boat time you put in the form: Stintino to Alghero Airport is 100 EUR by Standard Sedan, Porto Torres to the airport 65, Porto Torres to Sassari 50. If you are staying in Stintino and sailing on the scheduled ferry, you can be driven to Porto Torres: about 29 km, 55 EUR by Standard Sedan and 75 by Standard Van.

What does it cost to reach the Asinara boats?

By private transfer, per vehicle and by Standard Sedan (1-3 people): from Alghero Airport to Stintino harbour 100 EUR, to Porto Torres port 65; from Sassari to Stintino 100, to Porto Torres 50. By Standard Van, for up to 8 people: 160, 90, 160 and 80 EUR, in the same order. Fuel and luggage are included; the crossing is not, you pay that to the ferry company. On the fare sheet published by the ferry company an adult pays 10 EUR one way and 15 return from 1 October to 31 May, 12 and 18 from 1 June to 30 September; children aged 4 to 12 and people over 70 pay half. On top comes the landing contribution of the town of Porto Torres: 2.50 EUR in low season, 5 in high season. The online fare sheet is dated July 2025: check the amounts when you book. The comparison, like for like: from Sassari to Porto Torres, travelling alone, the bus costs a few euros and runs often. The transfer pays off for a group, for the morning ferry when you start from the airport or from Alghero, and for Stintino, where buses are few. Up to 24 hours before, cancelling costs nothing; payment is on board once the trip is over, in cash or by card.

Which season are you going in?

From 1 May to 30 September the ferry from Porto Torres sails every day, and from 22 July to 31 August three times a day; that is also when the boats from Stintino mostly operate. From 1 October to 30 April three days a week remain, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with two departures: pick your date before you book flights and accommodation. Buses change too: the direct one between the airport and Stintino exists only in summer, while the ARST lines to Porto Torres and Stintino run all year, with fewer departures on Sundays. Times and days are published by the company: check them again close to your departure.

The transfer in practice

RSA Travel&Transfer is an NCC (noleggio con conducente: a car with a driver, booked in advance) based in Sassari, at Via Vincenzo Bellini 34: port and airport transfers, by reservation at any hour, also in time for the morning ferry. As far as the quay you travel in a vehicle reserved for you, a sedan or a van for up to 8 people; beyond the quay the island begins, and there you rely on the company or operator you chose. For a question, call or write on WhatsApp at +39 340 462 6334, or e-mail rsatraveltransfer@gmail.com.

  • One price per vehicle, not per person: you read it in the form before you confirm and it does not change after booking; fuel and luggage are already in it
  • On the way out the driver drops you at the quay in time to board; on your way back from the island the pickup is at the same quay, at the ferry or boat time you gave
  • Four vehicle classes: the sedans, Standard and Comfort, carry 1 to 3 people with 3 suitcases; the vans, Standard and Premium, up to 8 people; a child seat on request, with the age in the notes
  • Online booking closes 24 hours before; closer than that, call or write on WhatsApp and, if the vehicle is free, you get a confirmation
  • Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before; you pay on board when the trip ends, in cash or by card

To the quay, in time to board

The ferry time sets the pickup time: one trip to Stintino harbour or Porto Torres port, and when you come back the driver is there again.
