How to get to Alghero and Sassari from Alghero Airport.

Alghero Airport is about 13 km from the centre of Alghero and about 32 km from Sassari: about 18 minuti and about 35 minuti by road when traffic flows. There is no railway station at the airport, so you leave the terminal by bus, by metered taxi, by rental car or by private transfer. For Alghero there is ARST urban Line 3, one departure an hour from 05:20 to 23:00, every day. For Sassari there is ARST line 760: 9 departures a day, the first at 08:50, none between 16:10 and 20:00, the last at 23:45, ending at the bus station in Via Padre Zirano. Taxis wait outside arrivals and run on the meter: no fixed fare appears to be published. With RSA Travel&Transfer, an NCC based in Sassari, the price is fixed per vehicle: 65 EUR to Sassari and 35 to Alghero by Standard Sedan, 95 and 50 by Standard Van for up to 8 people. Timetables checked in October 2026.

To Alghero by bus: Line 3

ARST Line 3, formerly known as AL.F.A., is the urban bus between the terminal and Alghero: it runs through Fertilia, past the railway station in Via Don Minzoni and along Via Garibaldi, and ends in Via Catalogna, beside the old town and the port. It leaves the airport at 05:20, at 06:00 and then every hour from 07:00 to 23:00, Sundays included; the terminus is 20 to 26 minutes away. In summer 2026, from 22 June to 15 September, ARST added 34 departures: one bus every 30 minutes. The urban ticket is about 1 EUR and on board you can also pay by contactless card. The bus stops outside the walls: if you are staying inside them, the last stretch is on foot.

Alghero

To Sassari by bus: line 760

ARST line 760 links the terminal with Sassari without stops along the way. It leaves the airport every day at 08:50, 10:45, 13:20, 14:35, 16:10 and 20:00, then at 21:30 from Monday to Friday (20:40 on Saturdays and public holidays), at 23:05 and at 23:45: nine departures in all, the same in summer and winter. In 30 minutes it reaches the bus station in Via Padre Zirano, calling at Predda Niedda; the evening departures go round by Via Turati and take 42 minutes. It has three limits: nothing leaves before 08:50, there is a gap of almost four hours between 16:10 and 20:00, and the last stop is the bus station, not your address. From the bus station to the railway station it is about 650 m. The ticket costs a few euros.

Sassari

By train: only from Alghero town

No train reaches the airport. The Sassari - Alghero railway, run by ARST, starts from Alghero station in Via Don Minzoni, where Line 3 stops: so first the urban bus, then the train. There are about 12 departures on weekdays and 9 on Sundays, and the trip takes about 40 minutes. Since September 2025, though, the line has run under a speed limit and the ARST timetable lists a bus at the same time next to every train: on the day, your departure may be a bus. Between the two legs and the wait, allow more than an hour; when the timetable fits, the direct 760 is quicker.

Taxis: on the meter, no published fixed fare

The taxi rank is outside the terminal, near the bus bays and the NCC bays. No fixed fare to or from the airport appears to be published by the town councils, for Alghero or for Sassari: you pay what the meter shows, plus the supplements the regulations provide for (in Sassari, for example, a night one and a public-holiday one). The figures found online differ widely and all come from third-party sites, which is why none is repeated here. Anyone who needs the figure settled before boarding the plane has to agree a price beforehand: that is what an NCC does.

By private transfer: Alghero and Sassari at a fixed price

With a private transfer you walk out of arrivals and into the car. Alghero is about 13 km away: 35 EUR by Standard Sedan, 40 by Comfort Sedan, 50 by Standard Van and 60 by Premium Van. Sassari is about 32 km away: 65 EUR by Standard Sedan, 80 by Comfort Sedan, 95 by Standard Van and 115 by Premium Van. Sedans carry 1 to 3 people with 3 suitcases, vans up to 8 people. The price is for the vehicle and stays as shown in the form; the service runs by reservation at any hour, including for flights that land when there are no buses to Sassari.

Alghero Airport → Sassari

Old towns in a ZTL, and the way back to the terminal

Inside its walls the old town of Alghero is a limited-traffic zone (ZTL) twelve months a year, and an NCC vehicle gets in only when the town council has added its plate to the white list after a written request. The historic centre of Sassari is a ZTL too, with entry by authorisation. So a door inside the walls cannot be promised: the driver drops you at the nearest point a car can reach, and if your accommodation is inside the ZTL it is worth asking your host how access is registered. For the flight home: Sassari to the airport is 65 EUR by Standard Sedan and 95 by Standard Van, Alghero to the airport 35 and 50. The first bus from Sassari reaches the terminal at 05:22: for an early flight, check whether that is enough.

Alghero Airport

What does a transfer from Alghero Airport cost?

To Sassari a private transfer costs 65 EUR by Standard Sedan and 80 by Comfort Sedan (1-3 people), 95 by Standard Van and 115 by Premium Van (up to 8 people). To Alghero: 35, 40, 50 and 60 EUR, in the same order. These are per-vehicle prices, and they cover fuel and luggage (one suitcase plus one piece of hand luggage for each traveller; if you have more, say so when you book). The comparison, without hedging: to Alghero, alone and with one suitcase, Line 3 at about 1 EUR is hard to beat. To Sassari, bus 760 works if you land at a useful time and the bus station suits you. The transfer pays off when several of you travel together, when you land before 08:50, in the afternoon gap or after the last departure, and when you need to reach a precise address: a hotel, an office in Predda Niedda, the university clinics. Up to 24 hours before, cancelling costs nothing; you pay on board once the trip is over, in cash or by card.

What time do you land?

Your flight time decides almost everything. To Alghero, Line 3 covers the day from 05:20 to 23:00, so almost every arrival finds a bus within the hour. To Sassari it does not: land early in the morning and you wait for the 08:50, land after 16:10 and you wait for the 20:00, and after 23:45 nothing leaves. The airport stays open until the last flight has landed, but the bus is not tied to each single flight. Sassari, moreover, works all year, with its university, hospitals, courts and companies: the transfer can be booked online in every season, up to 24 hours before; if your flight is closer than that, phone or send a WhatsApp message.

The transfer in practice

RSA Travel&Transfer is an NCC (noleggio con conducente: a car with a driver, booked in advance) from Sassari, at Via Vincenzo Bellini 34: Alghero is its home airport, and transfers to and from Sassari, Alghero and the nearby towns run all year. The vehicle is reserved for whoever books it, from the sedan for a single traveller to the van for up to 8 people. For a question, call or write on WhatsApp at +39 340 462 6334, or e-mail rsatraveltransfer@gmail.com.

  • One price per vehicle, not per person: you read it in the form before you confirm and it does not change after booking; fuel and luggage are already in it
  • At the airport the driver stands in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name and, with your flight number, keeps an eye on the landing time
  • Four vehicle classes: the sedans, Standard and Comfort, carry 1 to 3 people with 3 suitcases; the vans, Standard and Premium, up to 8 people; a child seat on request, with the age in the notes
  • Online booking closes 24 hours before; closer than that, call or write on WhatsApp and, if the vehicle is free, you get a confirmation
  • Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before; you pay on board when the trip ends, in cash or by card
